Stan Van Gundy has declared that he is going to make Detroit his last stop in the NBA. He has had a long career, and he has done a great many things, but he is ready to stop after he is done in Detroit.
Upon making this admission only one year into his five-year deal, Skout had reports that people are speculating about whether he will retire at the end of this season. He has already gotten rid of Josh Smith, and the Pistons are not playing that well at the moment. Maybe it is time for Stan Van to move on the greener pastures. He might be able to do NBA games with his brother on TV, or may want to get away from all that the NBA is.
He has probably not had the career that he wanted, but he might be tired of dealing with today’s players. Two people from the 2004 draft have already made him miserable. He tangled with Dwight Howard over work ethic in Orlando, and he got rid of Josh Smith because he was not playing up to his potential and was not coachable.
If this is the last stop for Stan Van, he had a good career, and we all enjoyed watching him.
